Well the end of the 2023-2024 Shuffleboard Season came to an end at the Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard courts on March 21, 2024. The Masters Tournament features the top 8 Pro Men, Pro Ladies, Amateur Men and Amateur Ladies in a competition to see who is #One for the season. Zak Wonson was our director with the help of Tom Brown and Phil Wade. Cindy Wonson did a wonderful job with the charts and the cards so that the tournament was flawless. The New Smyrna Beach Mayor Fred Cleveland came to open the ceremonies along with our Zone 2 Commissioner Lisa Martin and Rob Salazar the Leisure Services Director. Christine Giumarra gave the blessing and Zak gave us the rules. Randy Radke was our photographer. We would like to thank all the many volunteers who made this tournament possible. All of the pushers did a fantastic job keeping the discs rolling and the support volunteers kept the courts beaded and the discs waxed. I can’t say enough about our Court Manager, Mike Beall. Everything was so well maintained. The only problem was the weather. Thanks to all our sponsors who have supported our club throughout the season.

The Deland Shuffleboard Club sponsored the Northern District Tournament of Champions on March 7 and 8. The courts were in wonderful condition and the weather was great. Rod Lewis and Richie Burrell were the directors. The sponsors were: the Sanborn Center, Deland Shuffleboard Cub, Mid-Florida Lakes SBC, Florida Orthopedic Association, Ankle & Foot Sports Medicine Institute, Chick-fil-A, Joe and Chris Inga and Rod and Donna Lewis. The Coronado Mainland Shuffleboard Club hosted the ND23 Pro Only/Amateur Only Tournament on Feb 29/March 1, 2024. We had Volunteers to come on Tuesday to clean and wax the courts, and volunteers that came Thursday morning early to clean. Mike Beall our court manager lead the cleaning and set up for both days with the help of many, Zak and Cindy Wonson, Joan Sanford our President was ever present, Jerry and Arlene Jabaut, Marilyn and Bill VanLare, Dennis, Leslie, Joyce, Phil and many more. Without our volunteers we could not function. Thanks to all and those I may have forgotten.

The Sponsors for our tournament were Complete Health, Davis Bros HVAC, G&W Roofing, Highpoint Capital, NBS Homes, NSB Physical Therapy, Springhill Suites, State Farm Ins., Stellar Foot & Ankle, Town&Country Cooling, Kevin Para, Arlene & Jerry Jabaut, Gail Kadar, The Tivy Family and Cindy & Zak Wonson. Our director was Bonnie Radke. The weather was nice until 3 pm on Thursday when we were forced to quit early. More rain all night so our many volunteers showed up early to dry everything up. We almost made it to the end when during the finals, we were forced to wait out the rain and dry off the courts again. Thank you to all our volunteers who worked so hard to make this one happen. Congratulations to all our shufflers. It has been a great season.
