Please note that I have posted the ND General Board Meeting Minutes on the website. There are many important issues included, so please read them for your information. Thanks (Edited to correct Mary Jane Neumann’s name from Mary Ann)
Leesburg hosted the ND05 Mens/Ladies Doubles on Oct 31, 2024
Happy Halloween! We had a good turnout for today’s tournament. The men had 11 teams and the women had 9 teams. Tom was our tournament director with assistance from Chris Inga. This was our Bob Brandt Memorial Tournament, so our sponsors were the family and friends of Bob Brandt and Suter Air Conditioning. Eleven shufflers came in costume and the photos are attached. Thank you Ellie for judging the contest and thank you Gail for organizing the contest and providing the cute pumpkin prizes. Joe Constantine had the scariest costume; Cindy Wonson had the funniest costume and Christine Giumarra won the most original costume.
Tom was most appreciated of the morning help with the courts from Al, Paul, Rick and Debi. A special thank you to Izzy who stayed all day and took care of the kitchen and monies collected. Pat and I did the 50/50 and we had two winners of $26 as well as winners for the breakfast Station restaurant, BP Auto spa gift card and a beach bag and towel from Cebert Wealth Management. We had plenty of food donations that is much appreciated. Many favorable comments were given to the cherry dessert, but all foods were delicious and gratefully consumed.
We did have an issue that I need to address. I know it was a hot day to shuffle even though we had a nice breeze while playing. Everyone was tired but NO ONE stayed to help sweep any of the courts that were finished for the day’s play. Therefore, no courts got swept and I guess tomorrow morning they will have to be blown off and the excess beads in the gutters cleaned up. If finished Leesburg members could just have swept one court, the job would have been done.
The ND05 Men’s and Ladies Doubles Tournament in Leesburg on Oct 31st will be the Bob Brandt Memorial Tournament for this year. Winners’ names will be added to their plaque. Players in the tournament are welcome to wear costumes as prizes may be involved. This is optional of course. We hope for a great turnout for a fun day of tournament play.
The Hawthorne Shuffleboard Club hosted the ND04 Men’s Doubles and Ladies Doubles on Oct 24 and 25, 2024. Rick Enright was the Director and Sharon Wilde was the sponsor. Congratulations to all the shufflers.
Another Quick Note: If you are like me and have all of your Tournament pins saved in a draw and you won’t ever wear them, would you like to donate them back to the Northern District. Keep at least one of each pin as a keepsake, but I had three Masters Pins I donated back to the club. Should you have some pins, please let me or one of the directors know. Thanks so much for your attention to this request.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the cancellation of the ND02 Any Doubles Tournament in Coronado/Mainland, it has been RESCHEDULED TO BE PLAYED ON DEC 19TH. Everything will remain the same. It will still be a doubles tournament. Chris Inga will be our Director.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the State Amateur Tournament A05 FSA Singles 16 Frame/75 pts having been scheduled for Nov 11, the ND07 Any Amateur Draw, November 11 Tournament scheduled for Tavares has been POST PONED.
