The Leesburg Shuffleboard Club hosted the 2023 Masters Tournament. Rod Lewis was the Director and Gail Howell and Carol Helfer did a great job organizing the tournament and setting up all the food and entertainment for the Masters Banquet which followed the tournament. Stan Williamson was the MC for the night’s entertainment. There were trophy presentations, pin presentations and entertainment by Rick Enright as Elvis, Jim Faust playing his banjo and Zak Wonson and Joe Inga as Abbot and Costello. They presented George Snyder with an Iron Man Award for successfully playing in all Northern District Tournaments this season. Stan had some really big red underwear? Tom Brown and Gloria Boring were presented with the Frank Wilson Special Award for Amateur Winners of the TOC.
Ray Parlberg was well on his way to Hall of Fame when his wife became ill. He is now 89 years old and has done so much to promote the ND Shuffleboard that he was given an honorary entry into the Hall of Fame and presented with the traditional Red Jacket. Congratulations to all the shufflers, have a really great and safe summer.

Leesburg would like to invite any shufflers in the Northern District to play in our single/mingles monthly tournaments. The dates are on Wednesdays as follows: April 19th, May 17th, June 21st, July 19th and August 16th. We play five 16 frame games with a maximum score of 100 points per game. Cost is $5.00 all of which is returned as prize money and a donation to the Leesburg Food Bank. We would love to have shufflers from other clubs and join in the fun. Play will begin at 8:30 am because it is hot in the summer.

People keep contacting me to see if they are getting pins, if they have received pins, what is their status. Please see attached list. Those with the check marks have received their pins. Those who need or have no check mark will be receiving their pin at the Masters Banquet. If you do not plan to attend, your club president will receive your pin. If you see something that is not clear, please contact your club president.
I now have the completed list of Qualified Shufflers who have agreed to participate in the Masters Tournament to be held in Leesburg on March 23, 2023. Nine players are listed as we need alternates selected as stand-by players. Please note that the names in yellow qualified, but will not be participating in the tournament. Congratulations everyone, good luck and have a fantastic tournament.
We would like to congratulate Carol Helfer for joining Rex Galusha as our next qualified members to the Northern District Hall of Fame. They will get their jackets and induction ceremony at the 2024 Master Banquet. (in order to be inducted you must qualify by December, so they will have to wait until next year)
We should also congratulate Diana Vincent for earning enough points this year for her Pro Pin joining Steve Smith, Tom Brown and Tom Grubb.
