The state tournament in Hawthorne on 11 Oct is cancelled.
The two ND tournaments in Hawthorne on 28 Oct are cancelled.

Other cancellations are noted in the latest Schedule as been posted on our Northern District website – https://ndshuffleboard.org/schedule/

Any further schedule changes will be posted as they become known.

very Condensed version

Rod Lewis has sent us a synopsis of plans for our upcoming sesson’s tournaments.

1. The FSA has decided to start the season under the pandemic protocols set up last year with one exception. Masks will not be mandatory but optional. The FSA has a meeting on Oct 16th and the protocols will be discussed . The protocols are on the FSA website in the bullitin board. Please review all the protocols.

2. Coronado/Mainland has cancelled their tournaments until Jan. 2022 when a decision will be made to play or not.

3. DeLand and Tavares have cancelled their first tournaments so the season will begin on Oct 21st at Mid Florida Lakes.

4.The State tournaments at Hawthorne and Leesburg are scheduled but will be played under protocols

I have no problem with any club cancelling for any reason. We are going to have to be honest during the season if anyone contacts covid. Our foremost concern is the health of our players. Covid is going to be with us for the remainder of the year and beyond so we all need to be flexible, tolerant and understanding.

September 1st Meeting

With apologies, the September 1st meeting, which was supposed to use Google Meet, was unable to get started due to a technical problem (coordinator was unable to admit others to the meeting.)

ND president Rod Lewis will be contacting everyone to get their feedback on the subject of Covid concerns and holding Northern District tournaments this season.

Grace Marlatt has passed away — The Coronado/Mainland Shuffler

We had a sad phone call this morning from Walt Vilk saying that Grace Marlatt had passed away last night.  She had been a member of our club since 1998 and enjoyed participating in both the Northern District Tournaments and the InterCity Tournaments.  She will be sorely missed.   I do not have any further information […]

Letter from Lorraine

Lorraine Layton

Here is a letter from our Northern District (now) past president, Lorraine Layton, saying thanks and expressing good wishes:

It has been my pleasure to be able to serve the Northern District, as your President and Vice President. Both my husband Ivan and I are so thankful for having been a part of the Northern District, during our retirement years. As we all move on to new chapters in our lives, I want to express my thanks to all the volunteers you see before you today, who will pledge to do their best in developing the Northern District. Not being able to take part in this past unusual and unforgettable season, I had to rely on the physical presence of those that could be here. Rod Lewis, who will become your President, has been the stability of this district and has gone far beyond those duties to see things though. My first winter in Canada in 24 years, has already left me with a heavy heart, in not being able to enjoy a game of shuffleboard in the warmth and sunshine of Florida. The friendship that has come with being a part of the Northern District will be lasting memories for both Ivan and I. I wish you all the very best in your future development of the Northern District.
